Lancaster Livestock Auction: Lancaster Weekly Sale of Calves, OTM Cattle & Store Cattle, Friday 29th May 2026.

OTM / CULL COWS

A pleasing entry today with many farmers taking crop and doing field work, all sold today averaging 245p/kg. Beef cows sold to 319.5p/kg for Limousin from RH&C Ayrton Ltd with others generally 275p/kg – 300p/kg. Top grossing achieved £2856 for a Simmental from R&E Ladds. Dairy cows sold to 284.5p/kg from EW&RM Towers with parlour types 240p/kg to 260p/kg. A top price of £1913 was achieved from EW&CR Clegg & Sons.
Stock bulls sold to 294.5p/kg and £3045 for Simmentals from R&E Ladds, with others 274.5p/kg from WA Ward & Son and £2290 RJ Cardwell Ltd.
Prime cattle both under and over age continuing to come forward in greater numbers, with heifers to 309.5p/kg for a Charolais from Norbreck Genetics who also sold Aberdeen Angus at £2318. Dairy heifers to 294p/kg and £1926 from GA&A Atkinson.
Steers sold to 319.5p/kg and £2076 for Montbeliarde from GR&B Mason.

CALVES

A reduced entry with cropping understandably taking priority. Eight week old British Blue cross bulls sold to £810 and £800 from AD&L Milner, with younger bulls £700 from Lawsons Dairy Ltd who sold British Blue cross heifers (6 weeks) to £650. An eye catching 17 day old Limousin cross heifer from D&K Howarth sold at £630.
Several pens of weaned calves forward with a consignment of British Blue cross heifers from AT Burrow & Son sell to £1220 with others £1030. Dairy steers sold to £800 for Black and White from BJC UK Ltd.
Today’s sale incorporated the young handler calf over wintering show and sale which was kindly judged by Mrs Jill Bargh. The first prize this year was awarded to Joshua Standen showing a British Blue cross steer which later sold for £1060 to Mr D Coates, Robert Standen was awarded the reserve award for his British Blue cross steer selling at £1000 to Mr C Halhead.

STORE CATTLE

Trade sharper as buyers look to keep feeding pens full. Steers topped at £2250 for Hereford cross, £2200 for British Blues, £2150 for Charolais and £2100 for Angus. Heifers to £218- for Angus, £2120 Blue, £2080 Limousin cross. Plenty of interest in all classes and types with the younger end experiencing keen bidding. British Blue heifers to £1600, Angus Heifers to £1520, Angus Steers £1400 and Simmental Steers £1320.
